Ready to Make Your Video Content Debut? Start Here.
If you've been telling yourself you'll start creating video content "when you're ready," we totally get it. We put it off for a while too, right up until our passion for teaching finally outweighed the lead feet that had been holding us back. So let's save you the long way around and do this the easy way.
We've worked with countless Canadian Realtors who know video matters in modern real estate marketing and still keep nudging it to next week. Maybe you're worried about how you'll look on camera. Maybe you're not sure what to say. Or maybe you've quietly decided that everyone else is just better at this than you are.
Does your first video need to be perfect?
Not even close. It just needs to exist.
One of the biggest misconceptions about video is that it runs on great equipment, a perfect script, or professional editing. Those things can help, but they aren't what builds trust. People connect with people. Your future clients want to know what it's like to work with you, hear your perspective, and get a feel for your personality. Video simply lets them do that faster.
So where do you actually start?
With one simple question: why am I making this video? Are you answering a question clients ask you every week? Sharing local market knowledge? Walking someone through part of the buying or selling process? Showing off a neighbourhood you love? When you focus on helping rather than performing, the pressure drops and the content gets a whole lot easier to make.
Who are you talking to?
One person. The most effective real estate branding is clear and specific, so instead of creating content for "everyone," picture one ideal client. What are they asking? What's worrying them? What would make their week easier? Speak to that person directly and your content becomes more relatable, and your client experience starts long before you ever shake hands.
What do you need to hit record?
Less than you think. Your smartphone is more than capable of high-quality video. Find good natural light, keep background noise to a minimum, and put your energy into the value you're sharing rather than the production.
What if you still don't feel ready?
Record anyway. Confidence rarely shows up before action. It shows up because of it. Every video sharpens your delivery, refines your message, and strengthens your personal branding. Over time, you'll build a library of content that supports your lead generation, reinforces your expertise, and helps you connect with future clients before the first phone call.
So if your video debut has been sitting on your to-do list, our advice is simple: start before you feel ready. Your future clients aren't looking for a broadcaster. They're looking for a trusted Realtor who understands what they need and isn't afraid to show up as themselves.
And if you'd like a little encouragement along the way, we'd love to be part of that conversation. At The Real Estate Suite, we're passionate about helping Realtors build marketing, systems, and businesses that feel authentic, sustainable, and genuinely enjoyable to grow.
Sometimes all it takes is pressing record.
