LinkedIn Tips for Realtors: Write an SEO-Rich Bio That Gets Found

Someone moving to your city looks you up on LinkedIn before they call. What do they find? Often “REALTOR® at [Brokerage]” and an About section untouched since 2019. LinkedIn sits just under “clean out the car” on most to-do lists, but the people searching there are mid-decision. Five minutes fixes it.

Why does your bio need to be SEO rich?

Because LinkedIn is a search engine first. If “realtor in [your city]” isn’t in your headline or About section, you aren’t in the results.

Use your 220-character headline for who you help and where: REALTOR® helping first-time buyers and growing families in [City]. Write your About section to your favourite client, keywords woven in, never stuffed.

What’s the fastest way to write it?

Let AI write the first draft, and feed it well. A bare prompt in gets a bio any agent could use as the output. Your real words get one that sounds like you. Gather:

·       Your current bio. Rough is fine.

·       Two or three client reviews, in your clients’ own words, that you feel represent the work you do, and love to do.

·       Something you wrote that sounds like you: a newsletter, email, or a handful of captions.

Paste the prompt below into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool, fill in the blanks, add your material, and hit enter.

The 5-Minute LinkedIn Bio Prompt

I’m a REALTOR® in [CITY, PROVINCE] and I need a LinkedIn headline and About section that help the right people find me in search.

About me:

• I’ve been in real estate for [NUMBER] years with [BROKERAGE].

• I mostly help [WHO: first-time buyers, growing families, downsizers, investors, relocating professionals].

• The areas I know best are [NEIGHBOURHOODS / TOWNS].

• My specialties or designations are [e.g. relocation, condos, acreages, new builds].

• The thing clients thank me for most is [ONE THING].

• Outside of real estate, I [ONE REAL DETAIL: coach soccer, volunteer at the food bank, am raising two kids and a golden retriever].

• I want to sound [THREE WORDS: e.g. warm, direct, a little funny].

• I want to show up when people search [2 TO 4 PHRASES: e.g. “realtor in Halifax,” “first-time home buyer,” “relocation agent”].

Please write:

1. Three headline options, each under 220 characters, with my search phrases worked in naturally.

2. An About section under 2,000 characters, in first person. Clearly and naturally open with who I help and where, since only the first few lines show before “see more.” Weave in my city and areas naturally, include one personal detail, and end with a simple, friendly way to reach me.

3. Match the tone of my writing samples below. No keyword stuffing, no clichés like “passionate about real estate” or “dream home,” and no em dashes.

My material:

[PASTE YOUR CURRENT BIO]

[PASTE 2 TO 3 CLIENT REVIEWS]

[PASTE A NEWSLETTER, EMAIL, OR POST YOU WROTE]

What do you do with the draft?

Read it out loud. If you wouldn’t say it to a client at an open house, change it, or tell the AI what to fix (“warmer,” “shorter,” “less salesy”) and let it try again. Pick the headline that sounds most like you, paste both in, and you’re done. While you’re in there, update your photo, claim your custom URL (linkedin.com/in/yourname), and pin one thing to your Featured section, like a market update or client guide.

How often do you need to show up after that?

Less than you’d think. One thoughtful post a week, a few genuine comments on your network’s posts, and a quick refresh each season. Consistency beats volume.

A strong profile works quietly in the background, the same way a good system does. Set it up once, tend to it lightly, and let it do its job.

That’s exactly what we love building at The Real Estate Suite: simple, repeatable systems that keep your marketing running so you get your evenings back. If you refresh your profile this week, send us a message and tell us which headline you picked. We genuinely want to see it and follow along.
